Farm Credit Knowledge Center to Host Risk Management Dinner Meeting in September

The Farm Credit Knowledge Center will host a risk management dinner meeting at Blue Ridge Community College in Weyers Cave, Va. on September 5, 2024 as part of their 2024 Star Insights Series. Dinner will be served at 5:30 PM and the program will begin at 6:00 PM. The Star Insights Series is a free event offering from the Farm Credit Knowledge Center in which participants will hear from Ralph Stickman, Farm Credit Crop Insurance Agent.

Participants will have the opportunity to interact with Ralph as he discusses Pasture Rangeland and Forage Insurance options. Pasture Rangeland and Forage RI (PRF) insurance is a program that aims to help protect agricultural operations from the risks of forage loss due to the lack of precipitation. Without adequate rainfall, the forage that many producers use to feed their livestock will not exist. In these instances, many producers are forced to sell livestock, change business plans or spend money supplementing or buying off-farm forages. This program is designed to help with cash flow needs during those times.

Kyley Clevenger, Knowledge Center Director, shared, “Understanding the tools and programs available to help mitigate risks are vitally important for producers of any size. The focus of this workshop will be to provide producers with the awareness and understanding of those tools and programs to protect them and their operations.”
