Farm Credit Welcomes Shifflett as Information Systems Specialist
Farm Credit of the Virginias (FCV), a lending cooperative that serves Virginia, West Virginia and western Maryland, announced that Derek Shifflett has joined the Association as an information systems specialist. He is based at the Verona Operations Center, though he will serve the entire Association’s information technology needs.
Shifflett is an Augusta County, Va. native living in Weyers Cave. He graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in May 2024 with a degree in Information Technology: Cybersecurity. Shifflett brings prior experience working in healthcare as a medical equipment delivery technician and customer service representative to his new role.
“I am excited to bring my passion for helping others and eagerness to learn to my new role here at Farm Credit,” shared Shifflett. “I look forward to having the opportunity to learn many different functions of IT, as well as thinking critically about technology problems and their solutions.”
IT Support Manager, Freddy McGuire, shared, “We are exicted to have Derek join our IT team here at FCV. His strong customer support and technology skills will be a tremendous asset to our team, and we look forward to helping him grow into his role and have a rewarding career at FCV!”
Outside of work, Shifflett enjoys spending time with his wife and their five month old son, who keeps them busy! He also enjoys watching movies and TV shows, reading, playing video games, kayaking and spending time with his family and his dogs.
